Tour Roundup 2021

The inaugural Country Cousins Tour to Orange in the April school holidays was very successful and all the kids (and parents) had a great time.

On Friday night, the players had a training session with former Matildas coachTom Sermani, where he provided some invaluable instruction and was enjoyed just as much by him, as the kids. The energy was inspiring. On Saturday some families played the tourist, participating in a bush tucker tour and others a wine tour.  There was plenty of football action on the Saturday and Sunday with most teams playing at least 3 games each. The team spirit was awesome with many of the kids backing up in extra games to help out teams that needed it.

There was a Tour dinner held on the Saturday night with Tom Sermani as our guest speaker. He gave an inspirational talk with some interesting, behind the scenes tit-bits! On Sunday, after more football, we finished with a Tour BBQ with money raised for the Orange Football Association to assist kids who can’t afford to play. Everyone had a fantastic weekend away and the kids really enjoyed getting back into football, fit and ready for the season ahead.

The interaction with the Orange players, whom were extremely welcoming and played with such sportsmanship, was definitely a highlight. The Orange Association were delighted with the outcome are keen to do it again, as well as, expand it in future years. So if you are keen to participate in 2022, make sure you Sign Up before Sunday 13th March!

“The Lindfield players and families had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the friendly game atmosphere. I think we'd all agree it was a wonderful way to start the football season. Personally, it was really lovely to see the friendly team spirit and kids just playing for the love of it, even if they were playing for the opposite team!”
